Literature Text

Your presence is my pain,

Because you are near and yet so far.

You light up the room when you walk by and you make my heart flutter when you speak to me.

Yet you are so far away,

On the other end of a great sea.

And I am tormented,

Not just because we are so far apart, but because I know that the sea is my own doing,

created from my fear and insecurities.

At any moment, I could part it, and walk through straight to you,

but I will not, because I am a coward.

Each day, I pray that my heart turn unto stone,

So that I may no longer feel your pull on my heart,

And relieve myself of my torment.

But without that pull, I would have nothing,

Because thoughts of you have consumed me.

So I wait,

Because there is nothing else I can do,

Because I will not stop being a coward,

And the sea will not part,

And you are right in front of me,

But you are miles away.

Your presence is my pain.
I've been working on this for ages, a poem inspired by my favorite deviation of all time, :iconmikeinel:'s "Your Presence..." which you can see by clicking here [link] .

Tonight I was finally depressed enough that the ending came to me. I'm pretty happy with how this came out.
